RESEARCH AND EXTENSION ACTIVITIES-SCHOOL YEAR 2007-08

 

 

July 20 & 27, 2007

 

Whole day seminar on research was conducted at the SBC web center attended by forty nine (49) college faculty and staff (July 20) and the basic education faculty (July 27). The seminar tackled on the methods and techniques in making/working for chapters 1-3 of the Research Paper, and the familiarization of the metacrawler search engines for professional journals available in the internet. One output of the seminar was the groupings of faculty and staff into different research teams and the identification, by each team of the title of their research. As was agreed Chapters 1-3 outputs of each research team shall be submitted to the Office of Research and Extension of the college not later than November 30, 2007. Resource persons on the seminar were Dr. Helconida T. Calapardo, Dean of the College of Education and Prof. Rogelio D. Bayona, Director, Office of Research and Extension.

Fifteen (15) Bachelor of Arts majors in Social Science and Public Administration together with sixty (60) students of the Health Related Courses (Midwifery and Technical Nursing), together with Dean Cleofas Tupas of the Liberal Arts Department and Prof. Dally Joy Brato-Casiple, Principal of the Health Related Courses and Prof. Rogelio D. Bayona- Director, Office of Research and Extension conducted community surveys at Barangay New Esperanza, Mlang, Cotabato – the adopted barangay of SBC for its community extension services.

The Liberal Arts students conducted a data gathering survey of the socio-economic profile of the barangay while the Health Related Course students conducted the community health survey.

Prof. Bayona, Dean Tupas, and Prof. Casiple, together with Barangay Captain Rodrigo Hitroza made a community visitation and transect walk mapping of an Indigenous People’s (IP’s) community in the same barangay to assess the felt needs and pressing problems that beset the community.
